My time in Ireland with the Adventure Ireland camp was the most amazing experience of my life. I met so many life long friends and learned so much about my heritage and family. My favorite memory of the trip was when Niamh told us about the horrific struggles of our ancestors and by coming back to the lands they once roamed, that we are the happy ending they only dreamed of. Niamh, Collie, and the rest of the staff Lucy and the Irish Way gang at Adventure Ireland Summercamp are an amazing bunch of people dedicated to making your Ireland experience one you will cherish for the rest of your life.

To anyone who is considering a Gap year and is thinking about going to Ireland you should be booking your stay with Homefield Rock Hostel in Bundoran.

My Gap year is a bit different than most people. I am a 42 years old. I heard about Homefield & Donegal Adventure Centre and contacted Collie to see if they would be interested I having an exchange. After the first phone call my plane ticket was booked, my house went up for sale and I quit my job.

Today, I am 13 weeks into my stay and loving every minute of it. The Homefield Rock hostel caters to all surfers, backpackers, adults, students, sports teams, etc. The hostel sleeps 42 has a self catering kitchen, 2 living rooms and even a couple of vending machines for the late night sweet tooth.

I have surfed and done the ropes course both of these were done at the Donegal Adventure Centre. I have traveled to Cork, Dublin, Galway, Derry and so many other places its hard to mention them all.

MyKelly Gilmore experience was everything and more than I ever dreamed of. I have met some amazing people and have a new family. I learned how to run a hostel and better yet I learned how to trust and believe in myself again.

My mornings started off with coffee and toast with a good discussion on worldwide politics and a pot of tea in the afternoon. I met a variety of international travelers who stayed in the hostel of all ages, each story a little different. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and laughed and giggled more in 3 months than I had in a long time.

I would absolutely recommend the Homefield Hostel & Donegal Adventure Centre to anyone of any age who is looking to immerse themselves in a new culture of great craic. (like that)? :-)
Bring a swimsuit and a warm sweater for the chilly nights. Open your heart and enjoy. You will not only gain a new experience but a lifetime of memories and friendship.

Kelly

So far my wife and her 3 siblings and 2 of my nieces have done this summer program. I can't wait until my own kids are old enough to spend some time in Ireland for their summer... I only wish I could stow away in their suitcase! Keep up the great work- they all still talk about what a wonderful experience this was

I could never have asked for a more warm, welcoming, good-natured, fun group of people to welcome me into Ireland. My time with AI is something I treasure. You really do make friends here; it's not just a job or just some program going through the Mackenziemotions with AI. It's all real and it's all from the heart. And yeah, it's a blast(:

Adventure Ireland was, and continues to be the single most amazing experience of my life. The friends I made the summer of 2010 are some of the most influential people in my life, and are still a blessing and support system; people I know I can always turn to. (As is Collie of course, he'll always be the eccentric yet lovable uncle I never had.) As a whole I felt so well taken care of at AI, between the staff and the town that became our home away from home, we discovered so much about the world and about ourselves. And of course, we enjoyed every minute of it!

I had so much fun with Adventure Ireland. It was literally the best summer of my life. Looking back, and I know it sounds cheesy, the adventures and things I learned that summer have influenced the type of person I am today. :-)

The Donegal Adventure Centre was truly the highlight of our class trip to Ireland! Not only did we have a lot of fun surfing, climbing the ropes course, and visiting the local area of Donegal, but the staff at the Adventure Centre made us feel very welcome and did everything to ensure that we had the best time possible. Thanks again for helping to make such a memorable trip!

Let me know if I can do anything else for you! I can't thank you enough for everything you did for us when we visited this past spring!

All my best,

I spent a gap-year semester at the DAC in the Outdoor Instructor Course. It was Abby easily one of the best and most valuable experiences of my life! The center is an incredibly diverse place—with instructors and students hailing from all over the globe. Classes were challenging, fun, and taught by staff with an unmatchable combination of expertise, enthusiasm and humor. Bundoran will always be one of my favorite places. I hope to make it back someday soon! .....Oh yea, and I have yet to find a place with better surf....not for lack of trying:-)

Let me know if there's anything else I can do. Happy to help!

Hope all is well!

I'm glad to share our Adventure Ireland experiences with you.
Our son Billy has attended AI programs since he was 11 yrs. He is now
17 and at Villanova and still he went back to AI last summer for 2
sessions. The program itself is very well run and very attentive to the
Billy (right) with Ben and Collie

students needs. The staff is outstanding and very dedicated. We have
met almost the entire staff at one time or another and Niamh and Collie
definitely have the kids "best interest" always in mind. Since our
son's first trip, has has returned every summer, sometimes with friends
from the area and sometimes by himself. The past 3 years he also
attended an intensive French Language Summer Program in France in
addition to his Ireland Program. (That was my wife and I excuse to
visit europe, we usually met him in Dublin and dropped him at his
French Program) As for logistics, supervision and organization of the
Adventure Ireland Program. I have never seen any better. Niamh and
Collie give very detailed instructions for arriving in Dublin. The
accommodations at the camp are great according to Billy and the program
is structured so thier Irish programs, sports and a good deal of bus
trips to major sights of interest. So, in closing, I guess you know our
experience with AI has always been a positive one.
Best Regards, Bill Guinan
